BGR Consulting Engineers has provided MEP design for several local restaurants. Restaurants are typically a little more challenging than most projects for a couple of reasons. One, they require compliance with not only the typical codes but also with the local health department. Two, they require coordination with the kitchen equipment drawings which have numerous connections for the MEP. Restaurants demand a higher degree of coordination between design team members and lead to more design time because of the additional equipment to be specified. However, these are not negative attributes but should be considered as opportunities to overcome the challenge that designing restaurants present.
